Track animals in 3-D underground using low frequency magnetic fields, to a resolution in time and space that reveals new information about their behaviour.
This is an evolution of our prior system published at ACM SenSys 2010 (best presentation award), which only worked in 2-D over a limited area. The aim of this project was to extend the accuracy, range and resolution of the system and also upgrade from 2-D to 3-D.
Biological analysis is underway. This shows how one animal uses different parts of the sett over time.
